HISTORY

The Gibson County Council on Aging was organized in 1973 as a not-for-profit organization to benefit all over age 60 citizens of Gibson County. The GCCOA serves as assessor of senior needs and is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a system of services for Older Hoosiers.

All services are provided without regard to race, religion or ethnic origin. Services are targeted to meet the social, educational and economic needs of senior citizens.

Major funding sources for services are the Older American Act, Older Hoosier Fund, United Way, County Commissioners, City and donations. In addition, funds are raised locally to further develop the network of services.
