Residential/Homeowners and Renters

May Burn:
Clean Wood Products from trees
And bushes

Clean White Paper with no finishes or inks

 

May Not Burn:

Any waste items that are not mentioned in the "may burn" category

Plastic
Cans
Bottles
Wire
Tires
Scrap food waste refuse
Asbestos containing waste
Cardboard

May Not Burn:

Soiled household paper products -
Paper towels, tissues or toilet paper
Non-wood waste materials

Allowed burning must be in a fireproof container
i.e. a burn barrel or concrete block pit.
May request an open burn variance for large wood piles

 

Businesses, Commercial Operations and Municipalities

May Burn:

Nothing

May Not Burn:

Any Waste items that are not 
mentioned in the "may burn"
category.

Any waste materials!

Open burning is not a method of disposal available to these operations.
 

Developers

May Burn:

Natural wood waste materials only by use of an Air curtain or Thermal Destructor with prior variance from IDEM

 

May Not Burn:

Any waste items that are not mentioned in the "may burn" category

Agricultural Property

May Burn:

Fence Rows

Field stubble and debris providing that the burning
does not create a nuisance to other property owners living in the area.
